Summer Teen Academies Coming to San Diego State University

The College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University (SDSU) is offering unique summer teen academies this coming summer that will focus on providing campers with a behind-the-scenes experience in one of several possible future careers. Areas that will be explored include video game design, TV news production, and crime scene technology, among others.

The College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University (SDSU) is offering unique summer teen academies this coming summer that will focus on providing campers with a behind-the-scenes experience in one of several possible future careers. Areas that will be explored include video game design, TV news production, and crime scene technology, among others.

The Teen CAMPX Career Exploration Academies are designed for high school students entering grades 9-12, and are held on campus at SDSU, giving participants a real feel for what it's like to learn at a major university. Each week-long camp is taught by an industry expert who guides the campers through a very unique learning experience that includes hands-on activities, field trips, and more. Camps are one week in length, from 8:30 am to 4 pm each day and will run between June 20 and August 12.
Below is a description of each camp.

Whodunnit? Crime Scene Technology
Discover the science and fun of careers in forensic technology. Learn to collect, preserve, and analyze evidence. From the tools used on the crime scene to procedures used in the lab, there's more to this field than what you've seen on TV (or in the movies). Tour the San Diego Sheriff's Crime Lab and learn from an experienced crime scene technician.

Justice Served: Lawyers, Judges, and More
Develop your public speaking, debate, and teamwork skills and expand your knowledge of the legal system. Learn about opening statements and closing arguments, meet guest speakers such
as public defenders, assistant district attorneys, or judges. Tour the San Diego Superior Courthouse and participate in a mock trial to take on the role of an investigator, attorney, or judge.

Tune In: TV News Production
How does the latest news get out to millions of viewers? Learn what it takes to be part of the action from TV news production studio industry experts at Channel 6 News and KPBS.
Some of the exciting careers in this evolving field include news anchors, writers, camera-operators, sound and video editors, designers, directors, and producers.

Level Up: Video Game Design and Production
