Instead of going outside, doing homework, and completing daily tasks, children would rather socialize online and play games. What if they had to earn the time they spend online instead?

Cash allowances are 'old school'. Kids need to be rewarded for being responsible in a currency they understand and value... Time Online!

The new release of COMET Parental Control Suite Version 4 enables parents to setup daily routines and activities for their children, and then rewards them with online time when the tasks are completed. “With the new release of our software,” said Annie Nguyenba, Director of Business Development, “We have really focused on user experience, performance, and simplicity,” continued Ms. Nguyenba.

“Feedback from our customers is really what shaped this new release,” said Shane Corrallo, founder of COMET and designer of the software. “We strive to remain agile in our development process so that user feedback and comments can be leveraged to help us prioritize new features and capabilities,” continued Mr. Corrallo.

Many tech-savvy parents have already put controls in place to regulate online activity. Monitoring chat sessions, blocking applications, and controlling time on the computer are all features available in many off-the-shelf parental control packages. Missing in all of these tools however is the ability to create a positive impact on children by rewarding them for being responsible.

“Cash Allowances are old school,” commented Mr. Corrallo. “Kids need to be rewarded for being responsible in a currency they understand and value… Time Online,” continued Mr. Corrallo.

COMET parental control software lets parents manage a schedule of activities and chores for each child, that when completed, rewards children with credits they can exchange for time online. Each task or chore has an associated number of credits (minutes) attached to it. When the child completes the scheduled activity the time is automatically added to their currently available credits. As children use specific applications (such as Facebook, YouTube, online games, etc…) time is deducted from their total. Children are warned when their credits approach zero, but after the credits are used the application will automatically close and be unavailable until they have earned more credits.

COMET parental controls also allow parents to control time on the computer by setting up general use schedules for each child, limit time or completely restrict applications and websites, monitor everything their child types while online (including account names, email addresses, and passwords), and filter suspect web content. The software is compatible on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It is designed to run on multiple computers to allow parents to easily manage activities from anywhere, and to allow children to move from one computer to the other while maintaining schedule, credits, and other settings.
