The Revival Project is hosting their 1st annual State of The Family Conference at George Mason University on July 23, 2011. This inspiring conference will bring awareness and education on issues important to families and their surrounding communities. The topics being covered are substance abuse amongst the youth, child exploitation, gang violence, suicide prevention, community service, education and family renewal.
The visionary, Founder and President of the Revival Project is Kenneth Nixon. Mr. Nixon believes that none the success he has experienced so far in his life would be possible if he didn't have a strong upbringing that involved not only his parents but his entire family and community. As a lot of people, Mr. Nixon has been subjected to the same influences that have engulfed the lives of so many but the path he chose was one that was grounded in principles taught by his parents and his deep faith and devotion towards his Christian upbringing.
He is very passionate about the issues that are facing our youth, our families and society. Mr. Nixon is even more troubled with the low rate in which society, as a whole, is mobilizing to address these issues. While recently speaking about this topic Mr. Nixon stated that "there are many organizations that are heavily involved in the community but the full power of that involvement has yet to be felt because we leave these issues solely to organizations or the government and as a result we fail, collectively, to rise as individuals and address them at the community level".
The Revival Project believes it doesn't cost for a community of believers to have a conversation and to get involved in the community. The organization is asking that parents and communities simply have a conversation with their children, their neighbors, church or friends because at that basic level a true revival will begin.
The State of The Family Conference being held on July 23rd is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
