Miami, FL (PRWEB) March 24, 2011

Steven McKean, President and CEO of Acceller.com, was selected to join the Orange Bowl Committee in early March. The OBC is a non-profit, primarily volunteer, organization that focuses on promoting tourism to the South Florida area through the annual Discover Orange Bowl college football game and the Orange Bowl Festival.

“I’m honored to become a part of such a historic organization that has helped build up the South Florida community for over 70 years now,” said McKean, a Miami native. “The Discover Orange Bowl game and the Orange Bowl Festival have always been landmark events in this area and I’m proud to serve.”

McKean founded Acceller in January, 2000, and has been the driving force behind the company’s digital services comparison shopping platform. The company was twice named “Best Place to Work” by the South Florida Business Journal. Acceller sells to consumers through DigitalLanding.com. McKean also serves as a director at the Miami Children's Hospital, the University of Miami Citizen’s Board, the YPO, the Zell Lurie Entrepreneurial Institute Advisory Board and as a SFGF Director.

The Orange Bowl Committee was created in 1935 and has now grown into a 348-member organization, positioning themselves as a leader and supporter in the South Florida community. The Committee organizes several keystone events besides the college football game and festival, including the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic and the Orange Bowl Sailing Regatta series. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have also been raised by members of the Orange Bowl Committee to be awarded in academic scholarships to deserving students. And their youth sports initiatives include 16,000 youth football players and cheerleaders competing in the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance, which covers nine leagues in nine South Florida counties.
