San Jose, CA (PRWEB) March 28, 2011
Quantum Secure, the leading provider of enterprise software to manage and streamline security identities, compliance and events across disparate physical security systems, today announced a collaboration effort with the Global Identity Practice within HP Enterprise Services.
HP Enterprise Services is a proven leader in developing and implementing enterprise-wide and end-to-end identity management solutions that can help governments meet their Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and FIPS 201-related challenges.
The Quantum Secure SAFE suite of enterprise software enables corporate security practitioners to implement best practices, automate key processes and simplify control of employees, vendors and other third-party identities across a global organization.
By connecting their physical security operations closely to their IT infrastructure, security practitioners can quickly realize the value of physical and logical security convergence, lower their overall level of risk and realize a very strong return on their investment that will result in sustainable cost savings, year after year.
Working together, the two companies will deploy and support integrated security solutions for a host of government agencies, bringing together both logical and physical security into a holistic approach to identity management within and between agencies.
“We are working closely with HP to leverage their global experience in helping governments rapidly deploy large-scale identity management implementations,” said Laurie Aaron, vice president of government and alliances, Quantum Secure. “Their expertise in security and IT infrastructures, combined with our leading-edge technology for physical identity and access management, creates a one-stop shop for HSPD-12 compliance.”
The Quantum Secure SAFE for Government solution integrates tightly with HP Assured Identity Plus™, a wholly integrated, secure and scalable system that allows agencies to address HSPD-12, FIPS 201 and corresponding standards. The system has been approved by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and is available on GSA Schedule 70.
With a deadline of October 2011 to ensure that all existing physical and logical access control systems (PACS/LACS) must be upgraded to use PIV cards, agencies will not be allowed to use refresh funds for development and technology to complete other activities unless PACS/LACS upgrades are complete.
Quantum Secure and HP can help agencies fully meet the requirements of OMB M-11-11, which requires federal agencies to develop and issue agency implementation policy requiring the use of the PIV credential for access to the agency’s facilities, networks, and information systems. Any such plans must align with the Federal CIO Council’s Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) Roadmap and Implementation Guidance.
A key part of the HP Assured Identity Plus solution, Quantum Secure SAFE software provides a policy-based approach to managing and enrolling PIV cardholders into diverse PACS. This approach enables the flexible enrollment, validation and processing of individuals gaining temporary or long-term access to a given facility, along with a policy-based approach to guard against fraud and foster real-time audit and compliance – without changing the existing physical security infrastructure.
With the SAFE for Government solution, agencies can improve interoperability between agencies and other third parties, eliminate the manual redundancies related to physical identity and access management and increase in protection of personally identifiable information (PII) across their security infrastructure.
“Government agencies are seeking ways to leverage their existing physical and IT infrastructures to create a holistic identity management solution,” added Lolie Kull, Managing Consultant, Global Identity Practice, U.S. Public Sector, HP. “Beyond meeting the requirements of OMB M-11-11, this combined solution provides secure and reliable identification of employees, visitors and third-parties, automating key internal processes and results in significantly reduced operational costs and risk.”
