Young Audiences of Massachusetts Holds Community Arts Connect Evening on March 29

Today, Young Audiences of Massachusetts (YAMA) announced it will hold an interactive arts evening on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Flatbread Company in Somerville, Massachusetts. Guests are invited to enjoy locally-grown, wood-fired pizza beginning at 5:30pm and participate in creating an interactive community mural with YAMA visual artist Raul Gonzalez.

Hosted by Flatbread Company at Sacco’s Bowl Haven in Somerville’s Davis Square, http://flatbreadcompany.com, the restaurant will generously donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to support the community and school arts programs of YAMA.

“We look forward to launching our new partnership with Flatbread Company on Tuesday night,” said YAMA Executive Director Diane Michalowski Freeland. “Raul Gonzalez, a Young Audiences of Massachusetts visual artist, will lead attendees in creating an interactive community mural,” she added.

Young Audiences of Massachusetts launches this new series of events, “Community Arts Connect!” to provide the opportunity for YAMA artists, teachers, students, and families to come together informally.

Young Audiences of Massachusetts is one of the state's leading nonprofits focused on providing students with access to quality arts programs. The YAMA mission: to initiate life-long involvement in the arts by making them integral to every child's education. In 2009-2010, Young Audiences reached over 150,000 students in urban, rural, and suburban school districts in Massachusetts.
