San Francisco World Spirits Competition awards Plantation Vodka a Double Gold Medal. Produced in Americus, Georgia, Plantation Vodka is Thirteenth Colony Distilleries’ original distilled spirit offering – a handcrafted, small-batch vodka. Plantation Vodka, launched in April of 2009, is sold exclusively in the state of Georgia currently; with plans to expand distribution into additional states beginning later in 2011. Plantation Vodka, though a multiple award winning product, is priced competitively in the mid-range of its category.
The distinctively southern label of Plantation Vodka features “Quail in Flight,” by David Lanier, the 2009 Georgia Artist of the Year. The Quail image, a prominent visual for the brand, remains the focal point for the newly designed packaging scheduled for release in April 2011. The packaging and label are changing, but the award winning product inside remains the same – the highest quality product available at a price within reach of most.
The Double Gold Medal is one of many awards received by Thirteenth Colony; earlier this year its Southern Gin, received a Gold Medal from the International SIP Awards. Kent Cost, President of Thirteenth Colony, says the craft distillery “was founded with the goal of providing unique, high quality distilled spirits and will continue to pursue that goal into the future. Our goal is not to be the largest but to make the very best spirits. This award is recognition of our ongoing commitment to unique, high quality spirits”
All four of the Georgia handcrafted spirits: Plantation Vodka, Southern Vodka, Southern Gin, and Southern Corn Whiskey are available statewide in Georgia through Empire Distributors, Inc. Please be sure to ask your local retailer.
