Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School announced today that it has launched a $5 million fundraising campaign and unveiled new school and spirit logos. The funds raised during the multi-year campaign will be used to establish the Sister M. Lucia Haas Scholarship Endowment and provide a campus-wide enhancement of curriculum-based technology tools.

The high school, which provides a values-based education for students of all faiths and backgrounds, recognized the need to begin an endowment for tuition assistance programs and to integrate technology more effectively into the curriculum throughout its campus.

“For 50 years, Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School has been synonymous with excellence, leadership, service and faith,” said Sister M. Lucia Haas, president of Cardinal Mooney. “We want to inform our alumni, parents, students and friends about the need to help our programs and further our founding mission, which prepares students to achieve their highest potential.”

The Patterson Foundation, in honor of Dorothy Patterson’s devout Roman Catholic faith, recently presented a $1 million check to establish the scholarship endowment.

“We feel blessed by The Patterson Foundation’s generosity and are excited for the positive impact that will result from the foundation’s gift and the support from all who value CMHS,” Haas said. “Because of The Patterson Foundation’s support, we’re excited to kickoff our fundraising with a new look and feel for the campaign, our school and our athletic program.”

The foundation also issued a challenge where it will match endowment donations up to $1 million. With the success of the campaign, a total $3 million will be added to support Cardinal Mooney students who need tuition assistance and $2 million will be added for technology.

“Through our partnership with CMHS, we are honoring Dorothy Patterson’s faith, her friendship with Sister Lucia and her commitment to Catholic education,” said Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation. “Through this challenge, we hope to inspire generosity from people of all ages and backgrounds to support CMHS and its benefit to the community.”
