The Westin Nova Scotian , with East Link and LodgeNet Interactive, provide high definition in Halifax accommodations

“We are delighted to partner with the Westin as they improve the guest experience with EastLink’s first HD hospitality offering in Halifax”, says Jeff Gillham, Vice President of Business Sales, EastLink.

Halifax hotel, the Westin Nova Scotian, has announced the introduction of high definition on all 310 guest room televisions, a first in the Halifax hotel community. High-definition television (HD) refers to video having resolution substantially higher than traditional systems offering viewers the sharpest television picture available. With unparalleled picture clarity and rich, vibrant colors, via 1080i technology, HD television offers exceptional sound via the true cinematic experience of Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

HD has become common in residential settings, but is generally considered cost prohibitive in high demand areas such as hotels and resorts. Through partnerships with Eastlink and LodgeNet Interactive (Canada) Corp, The Westin is able to completely outfit its Halifax accommodations with high definition, offering the only wired HD hotel service in the downtown Halifax area.
“Our customers have been requesting higher quality resolution throughout the hotel, to accent our standard 32” LCD televisions”, says Guido Kerpel, Regional Vice President of New Castle Hotels. “We are pleased to compliment our guestroom offer to include the best television experience in Halifax”.

Halifax conference delegates have been requesting high definition televisions for some time and the ability to deliver this service positively impacts the hotel. The Westin Nova Scotian is proud to be the leader in providing this service and contributing to the appeal of hosting a conference in Halifax with the benefits of the many economic spin-offs. Guests of the downtown Halifax hotel can now look forward to retiring to their rooms after a busy day of conferences and meetings to enjoy the best in picture quality. For visitors to the Halifax hotel who are not overnight guests, Eve Lounge, offering Nov Scotia cuisine and entertainment, also features high definition. Eve Lounge is a popular spot for sampling Nova Scotia cuisine and entertainment.

“We are delighted to partner with the Westin as they improve the guest experience with EastLink’s first HD hospitality offering in Halifax”, says Jeff Gillham, Vice President of Business Sales, EastLink. “It is destined to become an industry standard as guest’s expectations continue to grow.”
