Auburn, AL (PRWEB) March 31, 2011
The President of HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort System, Swedish native Erik Olshall, will head the Gulf Coast operations of HOERBIGER Service of North America beginning June 2011.
Since mid-2007, Mr. Olshall has very successfully turned around HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems in Auburn, Alabama, a premier automotive supplier that manufactures, for example, the liftgate actuator for GM’s Cadillac SRX.
HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort System is a prime supplier to the U.S. automotive industry for hydraulic actuator systems for convertible tops, trunk lids, and tailgates. Under Mr. Olshall’s leadership, the company became profitable once again and acquired several important new customers. The company has grown and expanded its manufacturing facilities by 15,000 square feet. The additional jobs provide valuable skilled training to U.S. workers.
Mr. Olshall’s success gained recognition by Alabama Governor Bob Riley, who notified the company of a $50,000 grant to enhance the job skills of U.S. workers.
Among the key changes implemented by Mr. Olshall were:
•Revamping the manufacturing process to comply with lean processes.
•Drastically improving quality performance, including hiring a German materials testing specialist. This has reduced the error rate to basically zero.
•Utilizing domestic suppliers instead of foreign suppliers.
•Introducing sophisticated monitoring methods for productivity and inventory control.
This is not the first time Mr. Olshall increased company performance or turned a company around. Before joining HOERBIGER, Mr. Olshall served Webasto North America, where he significantly grew revenue in the automotive Heaters Division through strategic hiring, business plan development, and distribution restructuring that allowed for the acquisition of new customers and development of new business through existing customers. Prior to joining Webasto, Mr. Olshall served as the General Manager of three Profit Centres (Webasto, Multimedia, and Siemens VDO-Recaro) at KB Knutsson AB in Sweden. During his tenure as General Manager, two of Mr. Olshall’s divisions grew at a rate of 8% per year for six consecutive years. He turned the Multimedia Profit Centre around from posting significant losses to breaking even in just three years.
Mr. Olshall success as an executive has been acclaimed by the Governor of Alabama, the Mayor of Auburn, and the Industry Association of automotive parts manufacturers, OESA, among many others.
Mr. Olshall’s new assignment will be at HOERBIGER Service North America, the leading compressor services company in North America for the automotive, oil and gas industry.
With the new assignment for HOERBIGER Service, Mr. Olshall is expected to produce a repeat of his successful turn-around of HOERBIGER Automotive Comfort Systems. Mr. Olshall will assume his new responsibilities in June 2011.
