There are so many different ways to make a prototype that beginners get overwhelmed.
Edmond, OK (PRWEB) March 31, 2011
Marketworks LLC today announced that they recently purchased and renovated a website called RapidPrototypingServices.com. The site is now educational and informational, replacing the old site, which had very little content.
“We are excited to have launched this new site. I believe it will be helpful for anyone who is trying to determine what type of prototyping technology to use and which company to hire,” said Nick Swezey, owner of Marketworks LLC. “There are so many different ways to make a prototype that beginners get overwhelmed. We hope our new site proves to be a helpful tool for them.”
Rapid prototyping is multi-billion dollar industry. It is growing and changing every day. Thousands of companies use various forms of it to develop their products faster and cheaper than ever before. Marketworks aims to help companies and inventors find the right technology and provider for them.
The new educational section on the site discusses many of the popular rapid prototyping processes that are used today, including advantages, disadvantages and relative pricing of each one. It also includes the typical applications for each process.
The informational section allows visitors to search for prototype providers, also called service bureaus. These searches can be based on the desired process or based on the location of the providers. There are currently about one hundred providers listed. Each company has its own profile page, which lists its location, capabilities, website, and a map to its headquarters.
Some of the rapid prototyping services discussed on the site include stereolithography (SLA), selective laser sintering (SLS), 3D printing such as FDM and PolyJet, and even 3D metal printing. Other processes include urethane castings, metal castings, and CNC machining.
Injection molding is another topic that is covered. It is not traditionally used for prototyping because of the high costs and long lead times. However, there are companies that offer rapid tooling for prototype injection parts in less than two weeks, so this is mentioned on the site.
Industry news headlines are also updated frequently on the site. This industry is evolving rapidly so it is important to stay on top of the latest technology.
Any company that wishes to be listed on the site may contact the owner and request to be added.
