Pooler, GA (PRWEB) April 7, 2011
Godley Station Dental in Pooler, Georgia has announced that they will be offering $3,500 in college scholarships to area high school seniors. Applicants must be majoring in the health sciences, have at least a 2.0 GPA and demonstrate considerable community involvement. Students with a specific interest in dentistry and dental hygiene are strongly encouraged to apply, but this interest is not required for the scholarship. An essay is also required and complete applications must be postmarked by April 27, 2011. Applications can be downloaded at godleystationdental.com. Final candidates will be selected and invited to an award dinner in June at the Mighty Eighth Airforce Museum.
Dr. Allen says, "Most people we talk to are surprised to find out that a local dental practice is offering this type of program. However, we feel strongly that supporting the youth of our community is part of our responsibility. We especially wanted to offer support to those students who may be interested in dentistry or dental hygiene."
Godley Station Dental has strong ties to Pooler and its surrounding communities. Last September, they hosted 'Dentistry From The Heart' where free dental services were offered to the community and plan on hosting again in 2011. Their practice also participates in the 'Smiles For Life' campaign to benefit the Crown Council. In conjunction with the American Red Cross, blood drives have taken place on location and several more are planned for this year. The entire team is also participating with Habitat for Humanity this summer. "Dentistry is about more than just teeth," Dr. Allen continued, "It's about giving back to the people we live and work with as part of what we do every day."
Godley Station Dental offers general dentistry, preventive dentistry and cosmetic dentistry for patients of all ages. More information about Godley Station Dental and the scholarship program can be found at godleystationdental.com.
