LED light bulbs - the future for retailers
Clarendon Hills, IL (PRWEB) April 5, 2011
Linly Designs, a furniture store specializing in elite interior design, is showing its commitment to sustainability by bringing the latest in LED lighting technology to its own 7,400 square-foot showroom. These LED lights aren’t the little glowing dots you typically see on electronic appliances. Rather, they’re as powerful and bright as conventional showroom spotlights and showcase the quality of the furniture with ease. But there's one big difference: Each of the 200 LED lights Linly installs will use only 18 watts – replacing a 90-watt halogen bulb.
"These LED lights use less electricity, last far longer – and they save a substantial amount in energy costs," says Janet Linly, president of Linly Designs. "It's our way of showing that sustainability isn't just good for the environment, it's also good for the pocketbook – and those are savings we hope to pass on to our customers."
As with most truly good “green” technologies, the LED lights save money and labor. In the expansive Linly Designs showroom, the energy savings for each bulb adds up to a giant reduction in energy costs – and not just because of the raw wattage difference. Because LED lights generate less heat, the air conditioning doesn’t have to run as often.
"An LED spotlight can last for 50,000 hours," says Janet Linly. "If you use it 8 hours a day, every day of the week, an LED light will last for 17 years. While they still eventually need to be changed, it will be a long time before anyone has to face being told to change a light bulb at Linly Designs again."
Linly Designs, established in 2002, started out offering elite design services and soon branched into furniture and home accessories sales. The company also offers custom window treatments, cabinetry, lighting, accessories, and even floral arrangements. Together, its offerings allow it to provide everything needed for a complete upscale interior design project.
Because of its renowned service and selection, Linly has managed not only to survive, but even thrive during the economic downtown. In 2007, it opened its first showroom. In 2010, it opened an even larger showroom to allow it to highlight expanded offerings. This is the showroom that will soon be displaying the new LED lighting.
