Taos, NM (PRWEB) April 1, 2011
San Cristobal Academy, a long-term residential addiction treatment center for young men between the ages of 17 and 26 is glad to announce the hiring of two experienced staff members. “I am very excited as our program continues to expand,” explains Dave Johnson, CEO and Owner of SCA. “Day-by-day we are creating a treatment environment that successfully facilitates recovery from drug and alcohol addiction using the 12 steps and nature as catalysts for change.”
Former Passages to Recovery staple, Bernie Leclerc, has joined the team to help expand the outdoor aspect of the program. Being nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range, SCA has a distinct advantage to use Mother Nature to inspire young men with the message that there is more to life than drugs and alcohol. “As Bernie settles into the mix of staff here,” says Johnson, “he will assume the role of Wilderness Director, and spearhead our outdoor program.” Leclerc has over 22 years of experience treating adolescents and young adults in the field of therapeutic outdoor programs; that list includes: Passages to Recovery, Cathryn Freer, Soltreks, Explorations, and Vision Quest. To add to that, he has also has twenty plus years of personal 12 Step recovery.
Ben Sutton has worked as an administrator in both recovery environments and independent & private schools for the past 20 years in the Los Angeles area. The San Cristobal Academy mission hit close to home with Ben. “I was placed in a recovery center when I was 18 years old,” elaborates Sutton, “and I know all to well that the solution lies in the 12 steps, as well as life skills, service, leadership and self-discipline.” Ben is excited to help create an environment where his experience and gifts can be of service to the young men enrolled at San Cristobal Academy.
