"We're looking forward to giving people a smile each day while raising money for literacy."

Today (April Fools Day) marks the launch of BookCoverJudge.com, a humor blog whose slogan is “Actually, you CAN judge a book by its cover.” The new blog is dedicated to celebrating funny book covers and raising money for literacy.

Proceeds from the blog will benefit the Baltimore, Maryland-based CityLit Project, a nonprofit organization that creates enthusiasm for the literary arts, builds and connects a community of readers and writers, and opens opportunities for young people and diverse audiences to embrace the literary arts.

New blog posts on bookcoverjudge.com will run Monday-Friday- each will contain a photo of a book cover and a caption. The blog is currently seeking submissions from book stores, libraries, private book collections and book enthusiasts. Sources of submissions will be recognized with links to contributing sites.

The blog was started by the mom-daughter team Mary and Sarah McCarthy of Maryland as a way of appreciating the humor in literature and raising money for literacy.

Book Cover Judge is on Facebook (http://www.Facebook.com/BookCoverJudge) and Twitter (@BookCoverJudge) and invites book fans to follow along in these social media venues. For more information or to submit a book cover, contact judge(at)bookcoverjudge(dot)com.
