The company’s reaction to add new features to their products comes as a result of the increasing market demand for PC integrated communications solutions.
The first one is called WebPhone; it’s an option that allows users to place calls from a web interface - through WebCall - and also to send short text messages using WebSMS. Both of these are nicely integrated into BananaCall’s web site and they are available to any user after sign-in. Although not explicitly stated on their website, it is pretty clear that both WebSMS and WebCall are aimed at people who spend a significant amount of time in front of their PCs, and for whom making a call from their computer – using a PC with internet access and a headset – is more convenient than dialing the access number and entering the PIN, as they would need to do when using the prepaid calling plan.
For the same group of people who can easily see the benefits of calling from their PCs to practically any phone destination worldwide, BananaCall offers another option, this time a software application that the customer downloads and installs on their computer: PC-2-Phone. The advantages of using this application, as explained by BananaCall’s official website, are: a faster dialing process, a Contact List where one can save the called phone numbers, and many more.
PC-2-Phone goes even one step forward and allows customers to register for a Virtual Number. This allows them to be reached by friends, families and even business partners as people can call them up on these numbers and be charged as for a local call. Voicemail is also available with PC-2Phone and by using it one can store up messages received on the Virtual Number(s) when offline. Another useful option is Call Forwarding, which will redirect the calls received on the Virtual Numbers to an actual phone number (cell or landline) making sure no important calls will be missed.
Probably the most convenient aspect of these two features (WebPhone and PC-2-Phone) is that they are available on all of BananaCall’s plans, regardless of when one became a customer, and for no extra cost. Customers can use them as soon as they log into the website. As an added point to the ease of using these services, the costs for calls and SMSes sent through both PC-2-Phone and WebPhone are deducted from the client’s BananaCall balance. Bottom line, this saves customers the trouble of setting up new accounts and keeping track of different cost balances.
