POMCO Group, one of the nation’s largest independent third party administrators, will present its methodology for reducing health care costs beyond discounts and fees at the upcoming Health and Welfare Plan Management for Mid-Sized Employers Conference on April 5 – 8, 2011 at the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta, GA. The conference focuses on the issues that impact the decisions business leaders face, giving POMCO Group an opportunity to detail how proper benefits administration can reduce health care costs for self funded employers.

POMCO Group will present its ability to help manage health care costs using real client examples.

The idea that networks and discounts are important to controlling health plan costs isn’t new, the idea that it is a small part of controlling health plan costs is new.

For the second year POMCO Group employees, Vanessa Flynn, vice president of client services and Penny Barron, business development executive, will present at the Health and Welfare Plan Management for Mid-Sized Employers Conference. The presenters highlight POMCO Group’s methodology for reducing health care costs; an idea that is unique in the industry and has given rise to discussion throughout the conference. “The idea that networks and discounts are important to controlling health plan costs isn’t new, the idea that it is a small part of controlling health plan costs is new and that is what will drive our presentation,” states Flynn.

POMCO Group is one of the nation’s largest benefits administrators and provides employee benefits and risk management services to self funded employer groups. It has been successful in utilizing proper plan management techniques, in addition to customized network arrangements, to help manage its clients’ health care costs but the industry has been hesitant to abandon the idea of comparing health plans by using networks and discounts as the deciding factors. “Employers understand the importance of proper plan management, but, unlike discounts and network costs, it is difficult to place plan management into a spreadsheet for comparison,” states Barron.

POMCO Group will be detailing its techniques for reducing its clients’ health care costs during its presentation at the conference. In addition to the presentation, POMCO Group will also be exhibiting at the conference answering questions about benefits administration and its benefits to employers who have the ability to self fund their heath care costs.
