World Wide Security has launched its “Go Green!” program promoting energy conservation to its customers. As energy prices rise throughout the U.S., the Long Island region is often impacted more dramatically because it is an island with logistics and energy challenges. “While we are a security company, new technology built into the security system puts the energy controls in the consumer’s hands, literally,” explained Ken Mara, president and owner of World Wide Security. World Wide Security is promoting energy management through home automation features the company can provide through new and existing security systems.
World Wide Security is a Honeywell Security/First Alert Professional dealer. Recognized as a leading industry manufacturer, Honeywell has recently introduced Total Connect, an easy-to-use mounted touch pad, which connects to all the hand-held devices consumers use to the home’s communications center, Total Connect. The system is able to control lighting, HVAC and the home’s security system. “Now consumers can look in on their homes, turn lights on or off, control the heat and air conditioning. This is truly an interactive system giving consumers control and convenience,” Mara stated.
As energy prices continue to rise, experts predict a rise in energy efficient homes as homebuilders look to incorporate these products in new home construction. However, the remodeling industry is beginning to report a positive outlook about green products and services for the home. “Security is a service which has been in the home for some time, it only makes sense to integrate products into a system that is an integral part of the home’s management,” Mara said.
Total Connect is available through World Wide Security and can be installed new or added onto the home or business’ existing security system, in most instances. In addition to managing a building’s functions, sensor technology can also be added to the alarm panel to monitor high and low temperature changes which can indicate a flood or broken heating system, also sensors can used to monitor when someone has opened the gun cabinet, liquor or medicine cabinet. “These are great features for homeowners in addition to energy management!”
Helping to spread the message are the company’s new fleet of 100% electric-powered cars. Affectionately named after the owners’ mothers; Camille, Alice and Peg will be used for service calls and promoting the “green” energy management message. “At World Wide Security/GC Alarm we want to spread the message that your security system can not only keep you safe from crime and fire, but also manage the home, its contents and energy consumption,” Mara added. So when you see one of the “girls” around town be sure to beep and wave!
