Fusion Wireless Selects Mocana to Provide M2M Security Features for Wireless Communications Modules

Fusion Wireless, a leading provider of wireless modules to the M2M and consumer product markets, today announced their selection of Mocana to provide security software for their suite of high-speed CDMA modules. Currently, Fusion Wireless utilizes Mocana’s SSL security features in their FW2770p Wireless Module. Fusion Wireless modules provide value-driven broadband connectivity to the rapidly expanding market of M2M and consumer devices.

Fusion Wireless is leveraging a fundamental component of Mocana’s Device Security Framework, NanoSSL™. NanoSSL is Mocana’s SSL/TLS solution designed to speed product development while providing best-in-class device security in resource-constrained environments. NanoSSL is open-standards-based, extensible, platform-agnostic and includes an optional government-certified FIPS 140-2 level-1- validated crypto core. NanoSSL includes a full-featured key generator and certificate management client, and the new RFC standard for TLS 1.2.

“The benefits of embracing connected, smart devices across every segment of the economy is well established," said Adrian Turner, CEO of Mocana. "But unless M2M connections have the right security, these devices and the applications running on them won't be trusted. Companies might then resist integrating these new tools more fully into their business processes. Fusion’s secure M2M modules will help companies operationalize their M2M implementations faster and more reliably. And in the end, that means a better return on investment.”

Mocana’s NanoSSL is specifically designed to provide best-in-class device security services for the most innovative connected devices—medical equipment, industrial sensors, smart grid devices, and many other embedded devices. All of these devices need secured management access to transport data securely over the Internet. “Mocana is an established leader in securing smart devices,” said Dave Carey, CEO of Fusion Wireless. “Mocana's SSL technology enables Fusion Wireless to offer a value-driven module with robust security features. We look forward to further growing our presence in the M2M space through our partnership with Mocana.”
