Jaryba, Inc. a leading software provider for maximizing high performance computing resources announces today the results of an exhaustive study of their flagship product SmartSuspend™. SmartSuspend technology has allowed Jaryba’s customers to increase their cluster utilization upwards of 10-15%, delivering an extremely quick ROI. Jaryba now has the capability to validate these results with a sophisticated resource evaluation tool called SmartSim™ that can help potential customers understand the utilization savings SmartSuspend will bring to their clusters.

"Adding preemptive capability to your scheduling solution is no longer guess work, the proof is in the documented results with SmartSuspend," said Rick Bayless COO of Jaryba, Inc.

SmartSuspend enables safe and efficient preemptive scheduling of serial and parallel applications in HPC environments. It enables users to suspend running jobs and release CPU, memory, and application license resources in order to make room for higher priority workloads. Once these high priority tasks are completed, the suspended jobs can resume without the loss of compute time. Jaryba SmartSuspend is completely transparent to the application and operating system, allowing it to be easily deployed in any cluster or grid environment.

Jaryba SmartSuspend integrates seamlessly with most major resource managers today. That list includes: Platform LSF, Altair PBS Pro, Adaptive Computing Moab, Oracle Grid Engine, and Condor. Because SmartSuspend is completely transparent to the application and operating system, integrating into new environments is extremely easy and introduces virtually no overhead to the system.

SmartSim scours the resource manager's job logs and gathers pertinent information to determine resource savings and overall gains in cluster utilization. Jaryba SmartSim works with the Platform LSF environment. As part of a proof-of-concept Jaryba will work with LSF customers to show the increases in grid utilization and efficiency through their use of SmartSuspend. Jaryba is seeing similar utilization increases with other schedulers and is currently researching the development of other resource evaluation tools that will document these results.

“SmartSim is a tool that helps our customers understand how SmartSuspend can help increase the bottom-line revenue and make high performance clusters, grids and clouds more efficient and dynamic,” said Rick Bayless COO of Jaryba, Inc. “Adding preemptive capability to your scheduling solution is no longer guess work, the proof is in the documented results with SmartSuspend.”
