This year’s recipients applied innovative web technology in order to provide citizens with an overview of local programs and businesses within the community. Dedicated to the successes of the local community, CityOfBarrow.org is one of several Local Government portals offering outstanding online resources for local businesses and e-government services.

According to Allan Lee Mesina of TechGn, a local web developer for CityOfBarrow.org, “The objectives are to provide the most current information that is specifically related to the northern-most American City, extend services to its citizens, and present our unique culture throughout the world.”

Award finalists offer an array of features and functionality that cause them to surpass websites in their class. The Juggle.com government awards editors hand-selected this year’s Top Local Government Award recipients by evaluating a variety of site features and functionality, including usability, timely content, access to e- government services and technological innovation.

“People love up-to-date news, current weather and live council meeting webcasts features of the website. With the advancement of technology and innovation, e-government will slowly merge into the mainstream media. Live user interaction will be adapted such that citizens can exchange information easily,” noted Mesina.
