Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launch their Songkran website 2011 under the theme “Songkran Splendours”. The Songkran festival or Thai New Year is a world-famous event beloved by people everywhere. The website is colorfully decorated in blue and pink representing water and the pleasantness of the Songkran Festival.
This year Songkran Day falls on Thursday 14th April according to Thai astrology corresponding with the year of rabbit. For this year the symbol is a woman representing the wood element of nature. The lady of Songkran 2011 is called "Kirineetevee". She wears "Montha" at the ear, prefers nuts and sesame seeds, has an elephant hook in the right hand, a gun in the left hand, and rides an elephant.
