20-Year Industry Veteran Peter Spender to lead agency's account directors

Award-winning digital marketing and development agency Enlighten announced today that Peter Spender has taken on the role of VP, Account Services. In his new position overseeing the agency's team of account directors – which manages the relationships with such clients as Hunter Douglas, Fruit2O®, and Kao Brands Company (Ban®, Bioré®, Curél®, Jergens®, John Frieda® Collection) – Spender will champion Enlighten's established reputation as a top strategic advisor.

Spender brings to the company 20 years of experience in account management and marketing strategy. Through his previous work with Doner Advertising, the Michigan native has overseen cross-media work for such brands as U.S. Cellular, Owens Corning, Shell Oil Products U.S. (Pennzoil and Quaker State), Bush Brothers, and Chiquita. As an Account Director Spender established branding strategies for new clients, relaunched brands with new positioning and creative, and helped companies increase their market share by targeting new segments. In his later role as EVP, Account Management Director with the agency he directed a multi-discipline team of planners, buyers, and creative designers in analyzing customer and sales data, developing marketing and communication plans, and successfully launching new products.

In 2008, Spender was instrumental in running a campaign for The Detroit Zoological Society to promote a new property tax that would channel into a fund for the Detroit Zoo, which at the time was in danger of closing. The tax was approved and the campaign won a gold Effie Award, an honor designed to recognize "the most effective marketing communications ideas." In 2005, a major campaign for Six Flags led to record breaking ticket sales at parks across the nation, and turned the campaign's mascot into a pop culture icon.
