WalkingCradles.com, the brand site for Walking Cradles women’s shoes, specializing in comfort and hard-to-find sizes and widths, is giving back to the community and delivering a different kind of comfort. During the month of April, Walking Cradles is teaming up with St. Louis-based Loosen the Leash in a joint fundraising effort to contribute to the expansion of this uniquely effective program geared toward helping at-risk youth and rescue dogs.
Walking Cradles women’s shoes merge fashion and comfort into uniquely comfortable shoes. Exclusive technologies and a highly experienced and dedicated design team join to produce summer sandals, flats, pumps, and boots constructed for healthy, comfortable wearability. The Walking Cradles brand has several child brands, including the Walking Cradles Sport Collection, Walking Cradles Classics, and Elites by Walking Cradles. All four brands utilize comfort features like Walking Cradles Tiny Pillow Footbed, the removable Pillowette insole, and Flexwedge technology.
Loosen the Leash brings comfort of a different sort, to at risk youth and dedicated canines. This innovative program pairs juvenile offenders with rescue dogs, with each child being assigned their own dog to train. Through the training program, the dogs may learn to sit and stay, but the children walk away with far more valuable lessons in patience, self-confidence, and compassion.
Many of these children have had no positive influences in their home lives and have never been exposed to many of the things often taken for granted – love, family, home, friendship, kindness, and compassion. For many of these children, these are terms without meaning. That's where Loosen the Leash comes in. Through the training program, the dogs may learn to sit and stay, but the children walk away with far more valuable lessons in patience, self-confidence, and compassion. For many, the experience of having anyone be kind to them and love them is completely new. And through that experience, doors are opened and new possibilities emerge. Hearts and minds open and lives are changed through this amazing program.
Additionally, the kids learn a skill that they can use throughout their lives – invaluable job skills that later help them find employment. The program has enjoyed immense success. In fact, one of the “troublemakers” who went through the program at its start is now out and employed and has returned to help other kids through the Loosen the Leash program. Upon release, the program’s graduates have so far enjoyed 0% recidivism rate.
The Loosen the Leash team is now looking to expand their program, and Walking Cradles has answered their call to action. For the entire month of April, Walking Cradles will donate 10 cents for each new “like” on the Walking Cradles Facebook page. And for the first two weeks in April, April 1-15th, Walking Cradles will donate 20% of all WalkingCradles.com sales to Loosen the Leash.
