Developed by an Australian-based designer, The Smile Collective website brings together contributions of thoughts, photos, videos and stories and was developed on the sentiment that a simple gestures can mean a lot.
According to creator Kelly Exeter, the site is a light-hearted initiative inspired by a stranger’s kindness on a bad day.
“It was such a simple gesture, a man made an effort to wish me good morning, but I was just so impressed about how it made a difference to my day that I wanted to harness the gesture, and similar things that make people smile,” she said.
“A happy story can be powerful, and The Smile Collective is a resource for people to tap into every day or just when they are feeling low and want a daily boost.”
The special Mothers Day print, called ‘A Manifesto for Mums’, is a simple montage of “words to live by” that all mothers would recognise (but often forget!). A donation from every sale in April supports PANDA (Post and Anti Natal Depression Association).
The Smile Collective plans to launch a series of Manifesto Prints, with donations from every sale supporting appropriate mental health organisations.
The Smile Collective is open for public contribution and can be set up to issue daily emails to those who want them.
The A3 Poster Print can be purchased for $30 with a Framed Canvas Print available for $90.
Alternatively you can download a free ‘Smile’ poster and receive your free Smile postcards to help spread the smiles around!
