Adult ESL grammar software wins ComputED Gazette’s prestigious Best Educational Software (BESSIE) award.

The ComputED Gazette has chosen Rehearsal Technology’s English Extras® In Business with A, An, and The as the best post-secondary ESL software in its Best Educational Software (BESSIE) competition.

In Business with A, An, and The is an engaging self-study software program devoted to the English articles. The articles are one of the hardest parts of English grammar for most ESL/EFL students. The software lets adult and young adult students direct their own learning and master the articles without a teacher or textbook.

“We’re delighted to receive the BESSIE award,” said Catherine Wadelton, President and Founder of Rehearsal Technology. “In Business with A, An, and The gives students the instruction and practice they need in a fun game format. The award recognizes its innovative teaching method and rich content, which make learning easy.”

In Business with A, An, and The is a game that takes students inside an imaginary American company. There they must use articles correctly to hire employees and win a big job in San Francisco. Facial expressions, advice, and delayed answers encourage students to find their own mistakes. At any time during the game they can go to a library of explanations, examples, and drills for help. They see new material every time they play. The result of this unique teaching approach is that students enjoy the software and learn more.

The ComputED Gazette BESSIE awards target innovative and content-rich programs. Winners are selected from titles submitted by publishers around the world.
