Mooresville, NC (PRWEB) April 11, 2011
Point Blank Range, scheduled to open in May, today announced that Troy Perry has joined the management team as the new Director of Training and Instruction.
"Some may know Troy from his work in the Charlotte and Lake Norman area, where he has provided personal self defense and firearms training and instruction for over 20 years. He is also currently the Executive Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club,” says General Manager Dave Driscoll. “Troy is an NRA Training Counselor, the highest level of instructor designation recognized by the NRA.”
Out of nearly 80,000 NRA certified firearms instructors nationwide, only about 1,600 are NRA Training Counselors. This elite group of firearms trainers who are responsible for training all NRA Certified Instructors, have distinguished themselves in the firearms industry and are hand-picked by the NRA to receive this honor.
Perry is certified to teach many NRA firearms and safety courses, including NRA Basic Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun courses, NRA Personal Protection in the Home, NRA Home Firearm Safety well as the NC Concealed Carry Handgun Safety course. He is charged with building a team of instructors that can provide training for the beginning shooter as well as the most advanced competitive shooter.
He anticipates that the entire community will benefit from these programs. “Anytime competent instruction is received, the entire community benefits, but this is especially true where firearms are concerned. The best way to combat accidental injury is to educate the user. Other benefits are increased self confidence in one’s own ability to control confrontational situations, and the ability to protect one’s own family. Through proper education, demonstration and total participation, all of our students will benefit, but the overall effect is that the public interest will be served as well.”
Firearms safety will also be integral to the training programs offered at Point Blank Range. “The safety of shooters in the range is our first priority. Prior to using the range, members will be required to complete an orientation, watch a safety video, and familiarize themselves with our range equipment, safety rules and etiquette requirements. Range Safety Officers will perform safety checks on all firearms brought into the range, demonstrate the targeting system and confirm that they know how to load and handle the firearm they want to shoot,” says Perry.
Point Blank Range will also offer personal safety courses for students of all ages, including the NRA Refuse to be a Victim course, which is the most comprehensive lecture course available, and it covers everything from cyber crime to walking your pet.
For shooting sports enthusiasts seeking the total experience, with the addition of Troy Perry, General Manager Dave Driscoll is confident that Point Blank Range will be a premier training facility. “We will undoubtedly have the most state-of-the-art training facility in the area. Combine this with the national standard in civilian firearms training curriculum backed by the country’s oldest firearms training group, and a lead instructor with more than two decades of experience... I don’t see how anyone else can compare.”
Point Blank Range, located at 743 River Highway (Highway 150) in Mooresville, NC, is a licensed “Class 3” firearms dealer. Point Blank Range is committed to providing the Lake Norman area with a new and exciting, unparalleled shooting sports experience, dedicated to American ideals, personal safety and family entertainment.
