Jan Burgess, a partner at the European law firm CMS Cameron Mckenna, is set to deliver a presentation into the overlaps in liability during the construction phase of offshore wind installations. As well as discussing the health and safety legislation surrounding offshore construction and development, Jan will provide some first-hand insight into one of the few prosecutions resulting from an offshore wind farm accident.
This comes as part of a concerted effort throughout the wind energy industry to collaborate and identify crucial health and safety issues that will affect development in future farshore wind installations. It is acknowledged that while there has been limited collaboration between a number of developers, there is a requirement for further information sharing.
The commitment of the wind energy industry to maintaining its strong HSE record will be demonstrated at the Offshore Wind Health and Safety conference, a two day event designed to facilitate collaboration and cooperation between leading developers and contractors.
The focus will be to establish essential strategies to safeguard businesses and personnel in future farshore wind projects. Key issues being addressed include comprehensive, low impact risk management procedures, a debate into the challenges of HSE standardisation in the offshore wind industry, and insight into health and safety risk management strategies for farshore projects.
To engage in dedicated offshore-specific health and safety dialogue, industry professionals are going to meet in London on the 1st-2nd June for Europe’s premier knowledge sharing and networking event.
