Latest version offers new features to enhance student engagement and achievement

Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, today announced CourseConnect™ 2.0, the latest version of the company’s award-winning suite of interactive online courses. The announcement came during Cite 2011, Pearson’s 12th annual higher education technology conference.

Winner of the 2010 CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Course or Learning Management Solution, CourseConnect courses can be used as “plug and play” in any learning management system (LMS) or customized to accommodate an institution’s specific needs and term schedule. Course content is created by a team of respected subject matter experts, faculty advisors, course authors and e-learning instructional designers, and is based directly on clear learning objectives.

The CourseConnect library continues to expand, with courses available in such subjects as business, criminal justice, computer science and general education.

“The growth in online learning has focused a critical lens on student performance and program efficacy. We’ve completely redesigned the CourseConnect library, based on the feedback of our customers and their students, to enhance teaching and learning and provide an economical, customizable solution for institutions looking to increase performance and control costs during these challenging economic times,” said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions.

CourseConnect 2.0 delivers a more streamlined, intuitive and engaging experience for students and instructors and includes the following new features:

  •     Redesigned media-rich lesson presentations, with new content-specific images
  •     Revised assessment content, including supplemental assignments, revised discussion questions, and more quiz items per lesson
  •     Interactive, topic-based presentations that follow a consistent learning path, from Introduction, to Presentation, to Activity, then Review
  •     Enhanced note-taking tool that ties student notes to a specific screen
  •     Multimedia Index storehouse of all videos, simulations and other media-rich assets used throughout the course for easy access and viewing

“I find this to be a great approach to presenting what can be complicated and detailed material in a clear, easy-to-understand format that encourages learning in all types of students and is an outstanding solution in bringing the classroom to the computer. The new features and extra resources, available at the click of a mouse, enhance the learning experience for both students and instructors,” said Jan Domenico, instructor at Lone Star College-Kingwood.
