Awarded for its e-government and communication initiatives, Coronado.ca.us has been recognized as a 2011 Top Local Government Website Award recipient by online encyclopedia and reference resource Juggle.com.

This year’s recipients applied innovative web technology in order to provide citizens with greater access to government information and services. Dedicated to the successes of the local community, Coronado.ca.us is one of several Local Government portals offering outstanding online resources for local businesses and e-government services.

According to Leslie Suelter, Director of Administrative Services, “The City of Coronado’s website has been in place for many years but received a major redesign about two years ago. Like most municipalities, the City of Coronado tries to provide valuable information on its website for its citizenry, businesses, and visitors. For citizens, this includes access to the municipal code, budget and financial reporting information, department information, and community events.”

The awards editor at Juggle.com hand-selected this year’s Top Local Government Award recipients by evaluating a variety of site features and functionality, including: usability, up-to-date content, access to e-government services, community resources and technological innovation. The features and functionality offered to users enabled them to surpass other websites in their class.

“The City’s website includes information about City recreation facilities, links to visitor serving organization. The website is a work in progress and we constantly strive to keep it current and make improvements as needed,” noted Suelter.

Award recipients receive a feature page on Juggle.com that includes an interview with one of the individuals responsible for maintaining or managing each website.
