Recommended Animal Handling Guidelines and Audit Guide
Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 12, 2011
Today, Alchemy Systems, the leader in innovative training solutions for the global workforce, and the American Meat Institute (AMI) announced plans to release updated versions of AMI’s humane animal handling training courses.
Since 1944, the AMI Foundation has served the meat industry by creating and disseminating best practices for humane animal handling and stunning. The courses announced today will be based on the definitive “Recommended Animal Handling Guidelines and Audit Guide” written by Dr. Temple Grandin and are an integral part of AMI’s ongoing humane animal handling initiatives. More information about the updated courses will be available at the 2011 AMI Meat, Poultry & Seafood Convention and Exposition in AMI booth #1973 and Alchemy booth #931. The expo will be held April 13-16, 2011 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
Later this year, the updated DVD training materials will be available from AMI separately for beef and pork handling. Topics will include proper handling in a processing facility and humane practices during processing.
As part of a unique collaboration between AMI and Alchemy Systems, courses will also be available via the award-winning training and compliance management platform SISTEM®. Designed specifically for educating production workers, SISTEM uses hand-held remotes and multi-lingual, interactive courseware to increase employee comprehension and provide automatic documentation of the results. Forty percent of U.S. processing workers in the meat industry are licensed to use SISTEM, which their employers use as part of their efforts to ensure a safe and wholesome product, while at the same time increasing productivity and reducing liability.
In addition to the updated courses which will be released in both AMI DVD format and as SISTEM courses, Alchemy will also expand its beef and pork humane animal handling SISTEM course library to include courses covering animal welfare during transportation, and humane handling during unloading and receiving.
