Needham Heights, MA (PRWEB) April 14, 2011
Oxygen Software today introduces Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011 v.3.2, an important update to the popular software for forensic examination of cell phones, smart phones and PDA. Now the program enables the investigator to reconstruct the approximate route of the device user on Google Maps, either in Oxygen Forensic Suite or Google Earth. Also new is support for 6 popular applications, ability to analyze voice mail and FaceTime video calls on Apple devices and enhanced print and export features.
"Oxygen Forensic Suite 2011 v.3.2 is bringing more great innovations that let forensic experts extract the maximal amount of data from a mobile device to ensure the completeness and objectivity of the judicial investigation. With the new Locations section that reconstructs the route of the phone user based on GPS data, the investigator gets one more source of important information about a suspect. This source can become the evidence of the suspect guilt or innocence”, says Nickolay Golubev, Director of Public Relations, Oxygen Software.
WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 3.2?
Locations tab. Oxygen Forensic Suite 3.2 introduces the Locations tab in Web Connections and Location Services section. This tool parses the file “consolidated.db” that stores the geographic coordinates of the places visited by the device user. GPS coordinates are recorded to the file automatically by the smart phone itself. Once extracted, the program displays this information as a chronologically ordered list of records and reconstructs the approximate route of the offender, showing it with pin marks on Google Maps. The Locations tab is available in the Analytics version for Apple smart phones.
Export to KML format. Quite often the computer used for forensic examination of devices is not connected to the internet for security reasons. For the convenience of those users, Oxygen Forensic Suite introduces export of GPS data to KML. The expert can open the KML file in Google Earth and review the actions of the offender on Google Maps offline. Earlier this was possible only online in Oxygen Forensic Suite, or in the default PC browser.
Extract user data from 6 new applications. The new release lets investigators extract and analyze user data from more mobile applications than before. Supported now are Google Mail, Google Maps, Twitterific, Fring, Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Flickr. The investigator can see the exact date and time of the installation and each application launch, as well as extract logins and passwords to personal accounts on the corresponding online services.
Analyze voice mail and FaceTime calls. Special attention in version 3.2 has been given to the analysis of data from Apple devices. Now the Timeline displays voice mail, letting users find out who and when attempted to leave a message for the phone owner. What’s more, the Apple event log now shows FaceTime calls.
Enhanced print and export of reports. If there are 10 devices attached to the case, there is no need to click one and the same button to print or export a report for each phone. The user just selects the phones in the device tree and prints or exports reports with a single click. Also it’s now possible to select particular sections for print or export.
