The Art of Living Foundation, an international non-profit that offers stress reduction, meditation and self-development programs, is hosting ' Workshop on Wellness' (WOW) for the benefit of New Jersey residents. This all-day long workshop will be held on 17the April, 2011 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center located at 135 Davidson Avenue, Somerset, New Jersey.
In today’s fast paced world stress is something one cannot escape. This workshop is for bringing awareness on how to deal with stress, to lead a healthy and happy life through tangible, ancient holistic approaches like Ayurveda, Vastu, Astrology, Yoga and Meditation.
Ayurveda, is a more than 6,000 year old system of medicine that offers comprehensive approach to achieving health naturally. Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya a well known biomedical scientist and international public health specialist will speak on ‘Practical guide to achieving longevity using Ayurveda’.
Vastu Shastra is the science of aligning oneself with the forces of nature to reduce stress in one’s environment and body. Mr. Michael Mastro, an acclaimed author and teacher of Vastu will deliver a talk on ‘How to Achieve Health, Harmonize Relationships and Attain Success in Career through Vastu Shastra’.
Mr. Chakrapani Ullal, the renowned Vedic Astrologist, will speak on ‘Wellness and Financial Success through Vedic Astrology’.
The workshop will also feature a world-renowned nutritional expert Dr. Greger, will be speaking on’The latest in Nutrition to Prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic diseases’.
Diabetes is assuming epidemic proportions. Dr. Meena Murthy, Chief, Division of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism at Saint Peter’s University Hospital will speak on ‘Diabetes Care and Prevention’.
“One key factor that keeps us from experiencing wellness is stress. With the advent of technology and the increase in the pace of our lives, stress has crept into our lives. Even though we can’t change all the stress-causing agents around us, we can manage our own minds in a more effective manner, making them more stress-resistant” says Vikas Chawla, senior instructor of Art of Living and a resident of Somerset, New Jersey.
There will also be a hands-on workshop in Yoga and “Mind and Meditation” with emphasis on techniques that can be applied on a daily basis to combat stress and lead happier lives.
