Juggle.com, an online encyclopedia and reference resource, recently recognized Arvada.org as a Top Local Government Website Award recipient for its outstanding online advocacy of local businesses and community.

This year’s recipients applied innovative web technology in order to provide citizens with an overview of local programs and businesses within the community. Arvada.org is one of several top notch Local Government portals embracing the commitment to the community.

According to Chris Longshore, IS Manager for the City of Arvada, “Our current focus is on financial and organizational transparency and providing access 24/7 access to City Hall 24/7 through online services. To achieve this, we have stepped up efforts to communicate with citizens through their choice of medium – phone, website, social media, and/or mobile applications. We also have recently published a financial transparency application that provides real-time financial information in the form of a web application and/or raw data.”

Award finalists offer an array of features and functionality that cause them to surpass websites in their class. The Juggle.com government awards editors hand-selected this year’s Top Local Government Award recipients by evaluating a variety of site features and functionality, including usability, timely content, access to e- government services and technological innovation.

“We are somewhat of an early adopter of social media within government, and we get a great deal of traffic through those outlets. Every month, we are seeing an increasing number of followers, fans, and interactions with citizens through our social media efforts. We also currently publish podcasts for almost all of our public meetings – from City Council sessions to Planning Commission meetings,” noted Longshore.

Award recipients receive a feature page on Juggle.com that includes an interview with one of the individuals responsible for maintaining or managing each website.
