Soldiers are honored at ceremony tonight for deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in Denver. This is a VERY short suspense so contact Capt. Kalen Arreola at 858-525-2498 to attend and arrange interviews.

Families and Soldiers of the 282nd Engineer Company and the 994th Engineer Company will be honored during a ceremony for their service in support of two major contingency operations – Operation New Dawn (Iraq) and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), respectively.

After an eleven-month deployment with multiple operations to expand and improve forward operating bases within Iraq and Kuwait, the 282nd En. Co. returned back to Fort Carson, Colo. at the end of last year.

After a twelve-month deployment with multiple operations to expand and improve forward operating bases in Southern Afghanistan, the 994th En. Co. returned back to Denver, Colo. in February of 2011.

The Welcome Home Warrior Citizen event begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Denver. The ceremony will honor both units, their efforts overseas, and those who supported them while they were gone.

Each Soldier receives an encased American flag, a specially-designed commemorative coin and lapel pin set for the Soldier and spouse, and a Welcome Home Warrior Citizen flag.
