Today, Pepper.pk, a leading mobile applications company announced the launch of the world’s first native email client for the RIM Blackberry™ PlayBook. The email app, called Early Bird, is a simple, robust and beautifully designed native email application for RIM's latest tablet device. Early Bird is written for the BlackBerry QNX operating system and unlike browser based email, runs locally on the PlayBook.
Early Bird is designed to be lightweight and fast. With minimal storage requirements, it is highly optimized and runs without consuming much of the PlayBook's storage or memory. The application supports industry standard protocols such as POP and SMTP. This allows users to access popular email services like Gmail, Yahoo Mail!, Microsoft Exchange via POP and most ISP provided email accounts. The sortable Inbox view lets users organize messages by date, sender or subject. SSL/TLS support has been implemented for security conscious users.
With various new features on their way, scheduled to be integrated into the product as free updates, Early Bird promises to be a compelling, must-have productivity application for every PlayBook owner. Some of the features under development for upcoming releases include a contact manager, social media integration and multi-account capability.
Mahe Zehra, the Product and Operations Manager for Pepper.pk said, “Analysts and reviewers have pointed to the lack of a native E-mail application for the PlayBook, but we've filled this gap before it even became an issue for users. We genuinely believe that the PlayBook is an awesome platform and Pepper.pk's world leading development team will continue to focus its energies on adding tremendous value to this exciting new Tablet.”
Early Bird has already been submitted to the BlackBerry App World store and will be available as soon as RIM's approval process completes. The application will retail for the low introductory price of $4.99. More information and updates can be obtained by visiting Pepper.pk’s Early Bird page at http://www.pepper.pk/early-bird.
