Mesa, AZ (PRWEB) April 20, 2011
Sunland Springs Village, a master-planned active adult community in Mesa, has announced plans to begin construction of the new San Tan Recreation Complex which will be located at the southwest corner of Springwood Boulevard and Guadalupe Road. When completed, it will feature a new clubhouse, swimming pool and spa, exercise room, tennis courts and pickle ball. Construction is expected to begin in the 2nd quarter of 2011 with completion estimated before the summer of 2012.
The new San Tan Clubhouse, which will be approximately 6,600 square feet, will have a large meeting room (3,075 s.f.); twice the size of the current Superstition room. It can be divided into four separate rooms so that smaller groups can meet at the same time if needed. The serving kitchen will be able to handle many types of functions for the clubhouse. Adjacent to the east meeting rooms will be a semi-covered patio for outdoor functions so that our residents will be able to enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather.
The swimming pool, designed in an “L” shape, will accommodate the various water activities of the community. Aerobics, water volleyball, lap swimming and “just plain socializing” have all been taken into account and designed into the pool. How does this new pool compare to our current one? The surface area of the two original pools is approximately 2100 square feet. The surface are of the new pool is 3100 square feet. The new spa is approximately the same size as the current one.
West of the pool is the exercise room. It is approximately the same size (1,200 s.f.) as the original fitness center before the expansion a couple of years ago. This room will be used mostly for aerobic type equipment such as treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, elliptical equipment and some free weights. For those that are serious about weight lifting, they can continue to use the excellent weight room in the existing fitness center.
In addition to the clubhouse, swimming pool, and exercise room, we will be building 6 new tennis courts and two pickle ball courts.
We are budgeting approximately $3,000,000 to build the new complex and the associated improvements around it. We will have to improve the intersection of Springwood and Guadalupe to allow north/south access to the complex on Springwood. At a later time, Guadalupe Road will be improved west to Wattlewood and east to Meridian.
We are greateful for an improvement in the economy that has led to an increase in sales for 2010 compared to the previous couple of years. This has allowed us to move forward with this new recreation complex. We wish to thank many of you, especially those that served on the “Recreational Facilities Committee,” who participated in the study to help us determine the needs for the community. We look forward to 2012 when we will have a big party to celebrate the grand opening of the new San Tan Recreation Complex.
