Dorland Health Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. to Address Pressing Issues Facing Leaders in Case/Care Management

The Dorland Health Leadership Summit on May 11, 2011 will convene a faculty at the center of healthcare innovations who will share information on the power of collaboration, share new tools that will aid providers in delivering care, that is evidence-based, and introduce cutting-edge technologies that are in may ways redefining and enhancing the way care is being delivered to meet the individual healthcare needs of consumers.

The speaker list for the Leadership Summit consists of notable leaders in the field of care management, and their topics broach some of the pressing issues facing the industry's leaders today. Dr. Richard Bankowitz, the morning keynote speaker, explores the "new brand" of care management leader in the face of emerging models like accountable care organizations, while the afternoon keynote presentation by Deborah Trautman, Executive Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Transformation, delves into the underdeveloped area of policy outreach among nursing professionals.

“The Leadership Summit is an opportunity for care and case management professionals to sharpen their leadership skills in order to lead and mentor their teams to not only meet but exceed the demands of a changing healthcare delivery system,” said Anne Llewellyn, chairperson of the Summit and editor in chief of Dorland Health. “We are proud to have some of the leading lights in our industry guide us to better healthcare.”

Other sessions include: An exploration of legal and ethical issues, like HIPAA and multistate licensure, from care management experts Lynn Muller and Ellen Fink-Samnick; a learning session on producing outcomes within care management departments by senior executives Linda Sallee and Diana Rappa-Kesser; and a discussion of how case managers are driving the positive results in Aetna's accountable care models from Dr. Randall Krakauer and Maureen MacCoy.

A day earlier at the National Press Club, Dorland Health’s Case In Point division will host the Platinum Awards. The Case In Point Platinum Awards recognize the most successful and innovative case management programs working to improve healthcare across the care continuum. This second annual awards program sets the standard for organizations that deliver sustained success across a variety of disciplines and settings in the overarching continuum of care coordination.
