JMH Education Marketing, Inc., was named 2010 Government Contractor of the Year by American Express OPEN® for the first-ever Victory in Procurement (VIP) Awards recognizing outstanding achievement in government contracting. JMH Education specializes in creating education and social responsibility programs that effect positive change in areas of health, nutrition, the environment, financial literacy and issues that affect youth. JMH delivers these programs in schools, communities, the media, and online for government agencies, not-for-profits and corporations.

“We have long been committed to serving the government sector with creative educational programs for adults, families and children. We are extraordinarily proud of our team and expect to grow this business significantly in the coming years,” said JMH President Janice M. Hamilton.

Karen-Michelle Mirko, Director of Customer Advocacy at American Express OPEN, said, “Our award winners exemplify what it takes to thrive in government contracting and are proof that small businesses can be profitable when working with the world’s largest customer.” The award ceremony took place at OPEN’s Government Contracting Event in New Orleans.

JMH has successfully operated as both a prime contractor and a subcontractor in delivering its core educational services through creative, integrated campaigns. It is the prime supplier with United States Department of Agriculture (Food Safety and Inspection Service, Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, Forest Service), Food and Drug Administration, and two agencies within the Small Business Administration. As a subcontractor through the Ad Council, JMH Education has served the U.S. Army, USDA Forest Service, and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, among others.

The VIP Awards were selected based upon the candidates’ work and success in government contracting, and determined by a panel of judges who looked at criteria such as growth, strategy and community involvement.

The VIP awards are part of American Express OPEN’s Victory in Procurement™ (VIP) for Small Business initiative. Launched in 2009, VIP is a national program designed to help small business owners capitalize on the enormous growth opportunity provided through government contracts. By partnering with WIPP, SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" and Teaming USA (http://www.teamingusa.com), a partnership with Business Matchmaking, the program is helping business owners at every level of contract readiness.

In 2009, the U.S. government spent $96.8 billion on products and services supplied by small businesses, including $33.5 billion with small, disadvantaged firms and $16.4 billion with women-owned small businesses.
