Give2Asia, a US-based public charity promoting transformative philanthropy for Asia, today announces a new fiscal sponsor partnership with the Rural Community Development Service Council (RCDSC) to help U.S. donors connect with programs that improve the lives of discriminated minority groups in Nepal.
"The Terai region of Nepal still faces many social and cultural problems, including gender discrimination and caste segregation," said Jennifer Lofing, Give2Asia's Vice President of Programs. "Give2Asia hopes this partnership with RCDSC will help address these issues and establish continued funding for services to marginalized groups."
Rural Community Development Service Council (RCDSC) is a Nepalese non-profit affiliated with the Social Welfare Council Nepal. RCDSC has been providing support to residents of Terai Region for more than a decade by implementing programs to improve the lives of women, children and marginalized castes. RCDSC addresses issues such as health and sanitation, capacity development of women, protection of rights for lower castes, disaster preparedness and response, education, safe drinking water, income generation, and improved livelihood. The organization works within the community to increase participation and awareness of such issues, while engaging women in the decision-making processes. Community Radio of RCDSC has also been founded to broadcast news in Maithili language in order to reach the general public in the region.
Acting as a fiscal sponsor to over 100 charitable institutions in Asia, Give2Asia helps groups, like RCDSC, connect with supporters in the U.S. Give2Asia offers professional donor stewardship, and makes possible tax-deductible support for Asia-based programs.
U.S. donors can make donations online to Give2Asia in support of Rural Community Development Service Council at http://www.give2asia.org/rcdsc, or by sending donations to “Give2Asia” by check, wire, or securities transfer.
