The Art of Living Foundation, an international non-profit that offers stress reduction, meditation and self-development programs, hosted a very unique event ‘Workshop on Wellness ‘(WOW) for the benefit of New Jersey residents. This was a day long workshop held on 17the April, 2011 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center located at 135 Davidson Avenue, Somerset, New Jersey.
In today’s fast paced world stress is something one cannot escape. This workshop was for bringing awareness on dealing with stress, to lead a healthy and happy life through tangible, ancient holistic approaches like Ayurveda, Vastu, Astrology, Yoga and Meditation.
Ayurveda is a more than 6,000 year old system of medicine that offers comprehensive approach to achieving health naturally. Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya a well known biomedical scientist and international public health specialist spoke on ‘Practical guide to achieving longevity using Ayurveda’. Dr Bhattacharya gave some very valuable yet simple tips on how to lead a more healthy, natural and balanced life.
Vastu Shastra is the science of aligning oneself with the forces of nature to reduce stress in one’s environment and body. Mr. Michael Mastro, an acclaimed author and teacher of Vastu gave a very powerful and informative talk on ‘How to Achieve Health, Harmonize Relationships and Attain Success in Career through Vastu Shastra’. He gave many useful Vastu tips that one can incorporate to enhance quality of one’s life.
Mr. Chakrapani Ullal, the renowned Vedic Astrologist spoke on ‘Wellness and Financial Success through Vedic Astrology’. He explained how esoteric planetary positions have influence on human lives.
The workshop also featured a world-renowned nutritional expert Dr. Greger, who spoke on’ The latest in Nutrition to Prevent, treat, and even reverse chronic diseases’.
Diabetes is assuming epidemic proportions. Dr. Meena Murthy, Chief, Division of Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism at Saint Peter’s University Hospital gave a very informative talk on ‘Diabetes Care and Prevention’.
There was also a hands-on workshop on Yoga and “Mind and Meditation” with emphasis on techniques that could be applied on a daily basis to combat stress and lead happier lives.
