ESS Agency, the official U.S. strategic partner of the World Cyber Games (WCG), today announced the launch of the new WCG USA community website http://us.wcg.com and the opening of player registration for the free online qualifiers to the 2011 WCG USA National Finals. With over 1.5 million video gamers competing around the world to represent their nations for medals, prestige and cash prizes, these online qualifiers will offer U.S. citizens the opportunity to compete for a chance to be a member of Team USA at the 2011 WCG Grand Finals to be held in South Korea later this year.
This six official game titles for the 2011 WCG USA program:
- StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ (Blizzard Entertainment) - 1v1
- Tekken 6 (Namco Bandai Games) - 1v1
- Counter-Strike 1.6 (Valve) - 5v5
- Crossfire (Neowiz Games/Smilegate) - 5v5
- League of Legends (Riot Games) - 5v5
- World of Warcraft®: Cataclysm™ (Blizzard Entertainment) - 3v3
Online qualifiers for each game title kick-off on April 25th, 2011 and are ongoing through the Summer. Winners of each online qualifier will earn a spot and travel stipend for the WCG USA 2011 National Finals being held later this Fall. At the National Finals live event, the qualifier winners will be competing against each other to become the U.S. champions and join Team USA.
Fans and spectators will be able to watch live video streams of key game matches throughout the online qualifiers and the National Finals. Over 100 hours of live streams will feature the country’s top video game talent and be commentated by the best eSports shoutcasters in the U.S. Post-match video on-demand (VODs) will be available for replay on the WCG USA website and syndicated through the WCG U.S. social network pages.
