Geebo, a national online classifieds ads site known for providing a safe marketplace for both buyer and seller, has partnered with WeGoLook.com, a service provider that makes pre-transaction physical inspections of items for online buyers and sellers, the companies announced today.
The non-exclusive partnership will highlight WeGoLook’s services in Geebo ads, providing prospective buyers with the opportunity to have the item inspected before finalizing the deal. And while the service is ideal for buyers and sellers of big ticket items, such as cars, boats, jewelry and antiques, it can be used for other items that might be bought and sold over the Internet.
Geebo founder and CEO Greg Collier said the partnership brings another layer of safety and security to Geebo’s online classifieds ads, reducing the chances of a buyer being scammed or otherwise victimized by dealing with a stranger at the other end of an online transaction. Likewise, it provides the seller the opportunity to showcase his item as being inspected.
“There’s a certain amount of trust that goes into conducting an online transaction with a stranger but, as we’ve seen in too many unfortunate incidents, the person on the other end isn’t always the most trustworthy,” Collier wrote in a blog post announcing the partnership. “Geebo has worked hard to make the Internet a safer place and the partnership represents an important step toward making the online marketplace safer.”
WeGoLook is a provider of on-site inspections, conducted by a fleet of “lookers,” who visit the sellers, inspect the property they’re selling and submit a report with photos, observations and other factors that could impact a buyer’s final purchasing decision. The services, which begin at $49, are customizable and can be applied to any type of item - from hard-to-find electronics to a used car. The company’s “lookers,” all of whom are background check verified, are based in regions across the country and can be dispatched to any location in a timely manner, said company co-founder Robin Smith.
“Our family of 7,000 nationwide agents is 'looking' forward to traveling and performing item inspection reports on behalf of Geebo customers so that they may purchase online items safely, while avoiding fraud and misrepresentation,” Smith said. “Geebo customers now have a “set of eyes” anywhere in the U.S. to verify the existence and condition of an item that otherwise would be purchased without any other form of inspection.”
Previously, customers purchasing big-ticket items such as cars or boats would have to absorb the expense of traveling to the item’s location for their own peace of mind, an expense that was a potential waste if the didn’t meet the buyer’s expectations.
“By using WeGoLook, Geebo consumers can purchase with confidence and avoid costly surprises,” Smith said. “The report answers specific customer questions plus current photos, video of a working demonstration, VIN/Make/Model/Serial check, mileage/hours, measurements, photos of damage and more."
The WeGoLook services is being rolled out in the Geebo marketplace over the coming days.
