"CompatibleOne is a key cloud computing development effort within the OW2 community"
Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2011
OW2 Consortium, the open source community for infrastructure software, is participating in the OpenStack Conference, Santa Clara, CA, April 26-29. OW2 will introduce CompatibleOne, a collaborative project supported by the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative. The highlight of the presentation will be a live demonstration showing the integration of OpenStack with CompatibleOne.
Conducted by a group of 15 industrial and academic partners, CompatibleOne addresses the three layers of cloud computing with a comprehensive open source solution that will allow any organization to easily build its own cloud architecture, whether private or public. CompatibleOne will deliver a set of pre-integrated open source components and tools for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
One of the main objectives of CompatibleOne is to facilitate interoperability between cloud offerings from different vendors. To achieve this, CompatibleOne provides interfaces and functionalities compatible with the most popular IaaS environment.
OW2 will demonstrate the integration of ProActive, the CompatibleOne scalability engine for cloud computing co-developed by INRIA and ActiveEon. The presentation will be delivered by Cedric Thomas, OW2 CEO, and Denis Caromel, INRIA/ActiveEon.
CompatibleOne, supported by the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative, is a unique community effort building a common vision of what an open cloud based on open source and open standards should be. It also aims to develop key software technologies according to an R&D agenda defined collaboratively.
“We are excited to be showing tangible results already. CompatibleOne is a key cloud computing R&D effort within the OW2 community,” said Alexandre Lefebvre of France Telecom Orange who is also OW2 CTO and co-lead of the OW2 Open Source Cloudware initiative, “We are looking forward to extending our support of OpenStack.”
Founded in January 2007, OW2 is an independent industry community dedicated to developing open source code infrastructure (middleware and generic applications) and to fostering a vibrant community and business ecosystem. The OW2 Consortium hosts some one hundred technology projects, including ASM, Bonita, eXo Platorm, JOnAS, Orbeon Forms, PetALS, SpagoBI, Talend and XWiki. Visit http://www.ow2.org.
