The popular online game Franktown Rocks has been running a weekly American Idol poll and the results they’ve been seeing each week are strikingly similar to how America has been voting. Take last night’s American Idol results for example. The tweens (kids ages 8-12) voting not only predicted who would be in the bottom three, they correctly picked who would be sent home.
“Tweens are a generation that consumes music like no generation before them,” says Franktown Rocks founder and CEO Rob Solberg. “And they’re very plugged in. So it’s not too much of a surprise to us that they keep getting it right week after week.”
Now that this season of American Idol is down to just 6 contestants who do tweens say will win the whole thing? In an online poll Franktown Rocks asked their visitors “Who do you hope wins American Idol this season?” and over 15,000 kids responded. They have a clear-cut winner in mind.
Leading the poll by a wide margin is Lauren Alaina, the 16-year old from Georgia with the country twang. In second place is 20-year old Casey Abrams, the quirky, bearded bass-playing contestant who only made it into the Top 10 because of the judges save. And if the tweens get it right again, it looks like next week Jacob Lusk will be sent home.
Franktown Rocks’ weekly poll can be found online at http://www.FranktownRocks.com/vote. It opens each Wednesday at the start of the American Idol show and closes each Thursday an hour before the results shows airs. Results from the previous week’s polls can be found there, as well as videos, free games, little known facts about the American Idol contestants and more.
