Elder Abuse is becoming an epidemic. Families and fiduciaries need to consult attorneys whenever they suspect abuse
(PRWEB) April 24, 2011
Feldman Law Group has joined the fight against Elder Abuse by joining Elder Abuse Answers, an organization for attorneys specializing in issues affecting older Americans, including Elder Abuse.
Elder Abuse is reaching epidemic proportions in America. In the last five years estimates of abuse have shown sharp increases. The most recent statistics estimated over 6 million cases of Elder Abuse occurred in 2009, with over 10% of those cases occurring in California.
The reasons for this sharp rise in Elder Abuse are varied; but the combination of an aging population and tough economic times have made our elder population a target for scams, fraud and other forms of financial abuse. Common scams include frantic phone calls allegedly from a grandchild needing money wired immediately to some far away destination. Another common scam involves seniors being approached at bank parking lots with various offers and being asked to withdraw $10,000 from their bank accounts.
It is important for family, friends and fiduciaries to be vigilant and protect loved ones from Elder Abuse. California has strengthened laws related o Elder Abuse to provide stronger criminal and civil remedies. Attorney’s fees can even be recovered against the Elder Abusers!
To help fiduciaries and families, Aaron Feldman is offering a free consultation for the first twenty-five persons who are concerned about a potential Elder Abuse claim and mention this press release.
