Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., a leader among personal injury and medical malpractice firms in the New York area, was selected as having one of VerdictSearch’s Top NY Verdicts of 2010.

This elite list of the top 25 verdicts in New York is compiled by VerdictSearch and published in the New York Law Journal annually. The 2010 selections appeared in the April 25, 2011 issue of the New York Law Journal.

According to the case, Meade vs. On the Ave Hotel (INDEX NO. : 103585/08), which settled for $8.5 million after a four week trial, a Connecticut man became seriously injured after falling down an elevator shaft of a NY hotel. The staff of the hotel encouraged improper evacuation procedures after the elevator became stuck between floors, causing the victim to fall more than two stories and land on a steel buffer, injuring his leg and groin. Meade required five surgeries and several hospitalizations, and now suffers from permanent scarring, lymphedema (chronic swelling of the leg) and constant pain.

Andrew L. Libo, the attorney for Meade from Gersowitz Libo & Korek, P.C., was pleased with the outcome. “Gary and his family have suffered tremendously over the past two years, and their lives will never be the same. We wanted to ensure that Gary was fairly compensated for past and future medical expenses and lost wages, which is why we ended up going to trial.” The Trial was conducted by Jeff S. Korek and Nicolas Bagley.
