Award-Winning Moving Company Opens First Branch Location in the State and Establishes New Brand Name

My goals are to bring to San Francisco all the key elements that have made Gentle Giant so successful for the past 30 years in all of our other regions

Gentle Giant Moving Company, an award winning moving and storage company based in Massachusetts with locations in eight additional states, today announced the launch of Great Giant Moving and Storage. Great Giant is the central hub for the company’s San Francisco area operations with a location in the city’s downtown central waterfront area. 2011 will be the first full year that Gentle Giant will have its own full-service warehouse with storage and office space within California, strategically located near key residential neighborhoods. Gentle Giant has been serving customers in California within the company’s Interstate department since 2004. The company chose to establish its local operation under the name Great Giant because there is another company in Calif. with the name Gentle Giant.

San Francisco moving company operations and aspects of sales and marketing will be handled by recently appointed Regional Manager Brandon Sparks, who has been with the company since 2008. Sparks is staffing Great Giant with experienced employees from a variety of other regional offices, including the company headquarters, but he is recruiting and training new talent to join the organization in advance of anticipated growth in demand for service in the near future..

“My goals are to bring to San Francisco all the key elements that have made Gentle Giant so successful for the past 30 years in all of our other regions,” explains Sparks. “I’m talking about honesty, dependability, and superior customer service. We hustle hard and have very precise skills, so we’re efficient and careful.

Operating in its 31st year in Boston, Mass. Gentle Giant states that pursuing a regional growth strategy by establishing itself in major US cities like San Francisco enables the company to increase revenue and provide growth opportunities for loyal employees. It also allows the company to grow its unique interstate moving business line, which utilizes its own employees exclusively, instead of contracting with other parties for packing, driving, and unloading. Each of the branch locations across nine states provides a channel for promoting and fulfilling interstate move services.

“Providing an encouraging and challenging work environment while creating customers for life are two things we focus on with employees no matter where they are,” said Gentle Giant President and CEO Larry O’Toole. “By opening Great Giant in San Francisco office, we are looking to add to an already strong network of locations operated by our Giants who are the best at what they do and are constantly striving for greatness.”

The Great Giant staff in San Francisco has already begun conducting moves for local and interstate move customers. Employees are also doing outreach to local businesses and charities in an effort to support area communities. Sparks and his team are aggressively pursuing opportunities to demonstrate the type of service offered by Great Giant and Gentle Giant.
