Our dream is for Firefall to become one of the best competitive shooters for the PC.
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) April 29, 2011
After a phenomenal debut of Firefall’s team-based competitive mode at the recent Penny Arcade Expo in Boston, the dedicated team at Red 5 studios is pleased to share the first multiplayer trailer for Firefall.
“I’m excited to give the world at large a chance to see what we’re doing with Firefall’s competitive multiplayer modes,” says Mark Kern, CEO of Red 5 Studios. “When we first introduced Firefall in September 2010, we wanted to highlight our open world experience which meant holding off on sharing much about the competitive side of Firefall. We were super excited to finally offer players at PAX East a hands-on look at our army-vs-army team deathmatch.”
The new trailer features the Sunken Harbor map, a locale that was unveiled at PAX East just a few weeks ago. In addition to giving the gaming community a preview at just what they can find in the map, the new video also includes an intimate look at the workings of the three announced battleframes. By equipping different class-based items players will be able to determine which role they will be filling and what types of abilities and weapons they will be able to use in combat.
“What we’re showing in today’s trailer is actually the smallest competitive game mode we’ll be offering when we launch Firefall this year,” shares James Macauley, Executive Producer for Firefall. “This arena-style map is really focused on pitting two squads against each other to showcase their skills. Our other multiplayer modes offer opportunities for larger-scale battles and an even greater amount of team coordination and strategy. We have built Firefall from the ground up to offer gamers a highly competitive, team-based experience. In addition to building multiplayer options that support large scale armies, we’ll also be working with e-Sports communities around the world to identify what their needs are and to make sure we build a solid foundation for their work. Our dream is for Firefall to become one of the best competitive shooters for the PC.”
Macauley’s words aren’t just speculative boasting. The team at Red 5 will be having a broadcast event on Friday, May 6th which will give key e-Sports broadcasters a chance to talk to Firefall’s development team to further fine-tune the game for competitive e-Sports gameplay. A live stream of the event will be available for the general public on Justin.TV. The streaming coverage will include a live team-based PvP match, a first look at Firefall’s Spectator Mode, and more.
