Mount Laurel, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB) January 10, 2011

DiabetesCare.net – the fastest growing diabetes resource on the internet – announced today the launch of its first recipe contest dubbed "Dish-Off No. 1."

Between today and March 31, 2011, participants may enter the contest (no purchase necessary) by submitting a video - no longer than 3 minutes in length - of them making their original "diabetes-friendly" recipe. Participants will need to have either a Facebook® or YouTube® account, as they will be uploading their video to those social media outlets.

Along with a public vote, DiabetesCare.net's staff, which includes a registered dietitian, will hold an initial judging period from April 1, 2011-April 28, 2011 and select 10 finalist recipes. That list will be whittled down to the top 3 recipes, and a winner announced on April 29, 2011.

Recipes will be judged on originality, ease of preparation, appearance, nutritional quality, and "diabetes-friendliness," which is defined as being low in fat, saturated fat, sugar and sodium, and high in fiber. The DiabetesCare.net staff will be making and tasting the top 3-chosen recipes before a winner is announced.

First place prize in the DiabetesCare.net "Dish-Off No. 1" recipe contest is a 55" Philips® LCD HDTV (Value: $1,299.99). Second place prize is a 16GB Apple® iPad (Value: $499), and the third place prize to be awarded will be an 8GB Apple® iTouch (Value: $229).

The contest is open to United States residents age 18 or older.

For complete contest rules and to enter the contest, participants need to go to http://wildfireapp.com/website/6/contests/51567. Once there, participants will also receive guidelines that will help them make their "diabetes-friendly" recipe and gain tips on making a good video.
